What are the Quill Awards?
A Consumer-Driven Celebration of the Written Word Created to Inspire Reading
While Promoting Literacy. Nominations by booksellers and librarians followed by
"finals" voting by the consumer. The Quill Awards and the Quills Literacy
Foundation are initiatives supported by Reed Business.
Who is on the Nominating Board? How were they selected?
Bookseller and Librarian subscribers to Publishers Weekly are the invited
members of the Quills Nominating Board.
What is the Quills Executive Council?
A uniquely diversified group of literacy minded professionals from finance,
fashion, advertising, media, entertainment, publishing and education will be
formed to counsel, direct and propose the shape of the "Quills" programs and its
event.
What books are eligible for nomination?
English language books published in North American between August 1, 2004
through July 31, 2005
Is there an opportunity for a write-in nomination?
No. Since various lists will be used to create the qualified nominations,
there will be coverage to assure titles.
How will the consumer voting process work?
NBC is creating a consumer voting on-line site. Consumers will be able to
access voting via various online locations between August 15, 2005 and September
15, 2005.
What is the value of a Quill Award to a Publisher?
The Quill Award is a prestigious well-branded consumer selection of a title
that adds marketing value to the title and author.
Where will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced at The Quills Award Dinner on Tuesday, October
11, 2005 at Pier 60 in New York City.
When will it be on NBC? Is it going to be nationally televised?
The Quills are scheduled to air on 14 NBC Universal owned stations on
Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 from 7pm to 8pm in prime access. Additional stations
will be cleared.
